New study pushes CT scans on millions!

A new study suggests giving half the nation pricey cancer-causing CT scans just to check for heart risk.
Healthy? Doesn't matter. No other signs of heart risk? They don't care. The only thing that REALLY matters is a checkbook and the ability to keep your mouth shut
-- because this study falls apart the moment you start asking questions.
Researchers looked at the CT scans of 5,878 people who had no signs of heart disease, and found that 728 of them would have been bumped up into the "high risk" category as a result, according to the new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Another 814 patients would have been moved into the low-risk category, but who cares? You'd have to be out of your mind to believe we should use powerful doses of radiation to spot low-risk heart patients.
Congratulations! Your heart is fine. By the way, you have cancer.
The bottom line is that these tests did not identify higher risk 88 percent of the time. That's an awfully low batting average -- yet somehow, the study's authors went on to make the ludicrous claim that more of these scans could help docs figure out what to do with their "intermediate risk" patients.

There are 150 million "intermediate risk" people in the United States alone. Since these CT scans can cost $350 a pop, that's a new market worth up to $52.5 billion.

Remember, there is no healthy amount of radiation, yet we're being bombarded so often it's a miracle we don't glow in the dark. CT scans are the worst offenders of the bunch, delivering the radioactive wallop of between a few hundred and 1,000 X-rays in a single punch.
CT scans are blamed for 29,000 new cancers every year -- and that's if you believe the conservative mainstream numbers. I wouldn't be surprised if the real figures were double that or more.
